Ever since I had my son, I have been even more excited to travel the world than ever before. After all, it’s his turn to see the world. People around me comment that do all you can now, he is going to grow to do exactly the opposite of what you showed him to do. May that’s been their experiences. Apparently their kids hate hiking because they took their kids hiking as kids.
I can’t seem to buy it. If I get my son excited about something, he actually does it on his own and enjoys the activity with pure joy and enthusiasm.
He has visited 8 countries by the time he turned 2. Well, I agree, most of it, he had no clue what he was doing. I dragged the husband out and took the baby with us. But, when we visited Bhutan in 2019 winter, I could see the sparkle and excitement in his eyes.
Every mountain, cow, horse and flowers that he pointed out on the journey with excitement, all the local kids he played with in the villages we went to, the lunch he ate that was cooked by the monks….the list goes on, can the toys and TV shows replace any of those ?
As I traveled with my Son here are some of the quotes that I read and re-read to remind myself, how precious the act of traveling is with the kids.
