One of the best hikes that offer coastal view in the bay area is along the Pacifica beach area with stunning views of the coast, beach access and if you are lucky, wild flowers.
We went in the first week of May 2017 and didn’t hope for any wild flowers, but what a surprise !!!
Trailhead: Intersection of Paloma Ave and Beach Blvd, Pacifica, CA 94044
Park anywhere along the street or at beach parking lots. We went around 11AM on a gorgeous day and still found parking.
There is a small coffee shop at the fishing pier in the beginning of the hike and a public restroom.
Walk along the ocean for two miles or so to slowly climb up to Mori point for a stunning view of the ocean. Perhaps a 500ft elevation gain.
From Mori point, depending on how far you feel like walking, you can either go to Rockaway State Beach (~2miles from Mori point) or Pacifica State Beach (another ~2 miles). These are one-way mileages. So the round trip can be 6is or 8ish miles depending on how far you want to go.
After Mori point, just walk along the ocean on the unmarked trails to reach the above mentioned beaches.
This is an easy hike to the most part, except for really small sections of steep up/down hills. Take plenty of water on a hot day.
Other activities:
- Kids friendly hike with beach access
- Surfing at any of these beaches
