After our first visit to Death Valley National Park in the peak summer of 2013, we went back for Super bloom, the once in a decade bloom of wild flowers.
To be clear, its super bloom for desert standards. There are other parks in California with much denser wildflowers.
We camped at furnace creek campground and it was just walk up, find your spot, pay and claim the spot type system and given the spring break and super bloom, we found campsite and there were a few open ones available.
Both sunrise and sunset are gorgeous at the park. Zebresky point is known for sunrise.
We did some small hikes to the canyons and walked around in the park randomly. It was March, yet hot during the day time.
However, a perfect weather for camping with slightly warm breeze under the desert starry skies.
Given that we camped two nights, we spent one sunset at Dante’s point and another at the sand dunes. Both the places are stunning at sunset time. But, if you have to pick one spot over the other, go to Dante’s point for stunning colors(if you are lucky) and wide open vistas.
